The Thunder Visit (2023) was the last event organised by De Nieuwkomers collective. It consisted of a 4 day collaborative residency with 12 artists, who joined at different times throughout the project. Forming a fluctuating collective for the duration of the residency, the participating artist not only responded to the space and each other through experimentation with multiple materials, but also found themselves forming a temporary household. Sharing rooms, meals, recipes, personal stories, book recommendations, art supplies and many precious moments. The residency included a philosophy masterclass by Roel Neuraij and an impromptu visit to the local lake for a cooling swim where a collective story was written on a typewriter.

This finissage of De Nieuwkomers was completed with two days of public activation of the works. Giving space for interaction from the public and guided by the music of DJ DeBaser.
