Zoë Sluijs’s artistic practice is based on a photographic education accomplished at Sint-joost School of Art and Design. However, after graduating in 2020, Zoë broadened her artistic ambitions. She founded an art collective/research centre together with Bente de Bruin and Joy Heijnen called ‘de Nieuwkomers’. This creates the unique opportunity to continuously encounter a multitude of disciplines that broaden her practice.
Interweaving the natural world and the art world in both her collective and her personal practice, Sluijs explores the line between research-based documentary styles and staged/intuitive fictions. Changing the perspective that usually only features human’s view on the relationship between nature and humanity. This More-than-human approach is a continuous exploration through all the work Sluijs produces in pursuit to change traditional narratives.
